Hi, I’m Pavel
I’ve been building for the web since before “founder” was a job title people put in their bio.
In 2009 I released my first WordPress theme, Yamidoo. It did well enough that I kept going, and that turned into WPZOOM, a small independent company making WordPress themes and plugins. Seventeen years later: 250,000+ customers, 12 million downloads, and 300,000+ sites running our free themes and plugins on any given day.
I never raised money and never grew the team much beyond a handful of people. That’s a deliberate choice. It means I’m still in the code, still reading support tickets, and still the one deciding what gets built.
What I’m working on now
WPZOOM: WordPress themes and plugins for people who’d rather run their business than fight their website.
Recipe Card: recipe cards and nutrition analysis for food bloggers, a corner of the web I’ve come to know very well.
Yamidoo: an AI support agent that answers your visitors from your own pages and docs, built on the principle “AI first, human always.” Launched in 2026, and named after that first theme. Some things come full circle.

Outside of work
I’m based in Amsterdam, originally from Moldova.
When I’m not building products, you’ll probably find me:
- reading about technology and investing
- experimenting with new AI tools
- traveling with my family
- running or working out
- thinking about the next product I probably shouldn’t start
